Michael grew up in Charleston, West Virginia with a father, uncle, and grandfather who were concert promoters. As a child, Michael spent countless hours hanging out at music venues and watching the touring acts of the day from side stage, including Blue Oyster Cult, Ted Nugent, Mothers Finest, Robin Trower, ZZ Top and Kiss. This experience was pivotal to the musical path Michael’s life would take. At the age of nine, Michael got his first guitar and quickly started spending all of his free time practicing.
By the age of fourteen, the Lashinskys had moved to Miami and Michael’s band Incursion became a prominent force in the South Florida metal and hardcore scene. When Incursion disbanded a few years later, Michael began to explore other genres of music including Fusion, Jazz, Free Jazz, Dub and World music, specifically African music. At eighteen he joined Forget The Name who would become one of Miami’s top Alternative Rock bands of the late 80’s and early 90’s.
After moving to Brooklyn in the early 90’s, Michael landed a gig with St. Louis-based Sinister Dane. During his tenure the band toured extensively throughout the Mid-West and North East, and later signed with Sony Music.
A few years later, Michael moved to Atlanta, GA and established himself as one of the premier guitar players in the original music scene. He played in several local bands, most notably Repice and Wages of Sin, and performed in many of Atlanta’s original music venues at the time.
The new millennium brought Michael to Central Florida, where he played with Americana band Dead Rat Café and Roots Rock band Prey For Green before joining Orlando’s premier Old School Soul band, The Legendary JC’s in 2008. The JC’s toured the Southeast extensively including appearances at Jam, Funk and Roots festivals from the LEAF Festival in Asheville, NC to Bear Creek and other festivals at Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. Michael has contributed to solo projects from JC’s singers Eugene Snowden and Katie Burkess, and is a founding member of The Tone Collective, which originated as members of the JC’s rhythm section.
2020 saw the reunion of Incursion and the release of The Hunter (No Remorse Records), a 6 song EP that quickly made an impact on the international New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal scene. The band released its first full length record Blinding Force on No Remorse in the fall of 2022.
In 2022, Michael relocated to Nashville, TN, and is working with several artists both in the studio and live. His experience in various genres allows Michael to quickly come up with the right part for a multitude of styles and situations.
